Frequently Asked Questions

What is Liminal?

Liminal makes grief more connected and empowering. We pair "mentors" (we call them Guides) to the newly bereaved to provide 1-on-1 support. Beyond that, we produce live shows, events, podcasts, and retreats designed to help you grow through the rite of passage of losing a parent.

Who is Liminal for?

If you have lost one or both parents and feel like you are navigating a mapless world while everyone else is moving on, this is for you. Whether the loss was yesterday or ten years ago, if you need a witness, you belong here.

Is this therapy?

o. Therapy is for processing and diagnosis; Liminal is for witnessing and living. Think of us like a sponsor or a battle buddy. We don't analyze your childhood; we stand beside you in your now. (Note: If you are in crisis, please seek professional medical help).

What if I’m a mess?

Good. We like messes. There is no right way to grieve. Your journey is your own. You don't have to be poised, polite, or "over it" to be here. If you are angry, numb, or just exhausted—bring that. We can take it.

How much does it cost?

Right now, it is completely free. We are currently building our founding community, so we are waiving all fees for early members. You get full access to the matching and the network at no cost.

Is this religious?

No. We aren't a church basement. Liminal is a secular space open to all beliefs. We focus on the universal human experience of loss and the psychology of growth, not a specific spiritual doctrine.

Who are the guides?

Every guide is someone who has lost a parent, navigated the darkness, and been personally vetted by us. They aren't therapists, but they are trained to hold space, listen without judgment, and be the steady hand you need right now.

Empowering adult orphans through real connection, Liminal provides 1-on-1 mentorship and immersive experiences to replace the isolation of grief with the resilience of community.
